Hand forged vs. machine made debate got me second guessing everything

Does that mean my hand hammered stuff is just "soul" poorly?

Vent: That customer who told me I was 'too slow'

Honestly, "the invisible work" is exactly the part most people don't get. I had a guy once try to haggle me down on a floor install because his brother-in-law said he could do it for half the price. I just said, "Okay, have him come look at my subfloor and tell me if he's still cool with that." Funny how they never want to deal with the actual prep. Tbh, I learned the hard way that if you let them rattle you, they'll never respect your time or your prices.

Talked to my grandma about her starter and realized I've been overcomplicating things

Hear me out though, what if you just skip the parts of the science that feel like homework? Like I used to get bogged down in the whole chemistry side of things but then I realized I could just learn one tiny thing at a time. Now I just pick one weird fact that sounds cool and look it up for like five minutes. It turned the whole thing into little fun surprises instead of a big test. Keeps the hobby feeling like a hobby, you know?

That time my sourdough starter exploded at 3 AM in Cleveland

and yeah @alex524 is totally right, that midnight surprise is no joke. i switched to a big plastic container with a loose lid and it still managed to push the lid off and dribble down the sides. now i just use a big bowl with a cloth and a rubber band, way less cleanup when it decides to go crazy on a warm night. the explosion thing is real though, i had to repaint a whole cabinet section after mine went off like a sticky bomb. for real, if you ever see bubbles forming faster than usual just move it somewhere you don't mind getting messy.

I finally stopped using safety wire pliers on cotter pins

Man I feel this so hard. That garlic press thing is the perfect example, I swear I've spent more time picking garlic out of those stupid holes than I ever saved smashing it myself.
