My kid's teacher in Dallas banned the word 'stuff' from essays and now my son just says 'things' twice in a row
I sat in the parent teacher conference last week and she said 'stuff' makes writing lazy so it's off limits for the semester, but when I asked what he should say instead she just told him to 'be more specific' without giving any example, so he wrote 'things' 14 times in one page and she marked it fine, which makes me wonder if anyone else has run into a banned word at school that just got swapped for an even emptier one.

Did the teacher actually give him a list of words to use instead?
