Pro tip: after 3 months of being quiet in a Discord about local politics, I made a second account and the difference is wild
Back in August I got muted in a 2,000 member Discord server for posting a link to a city council meeting recap. The mods said it was off topic for the general channel, which is fair, but they also deleted the whole thread and gave me a 30 day timeout. So I started a throwaway account with a different name and just posted the same kind of stuff in the off topic channel, no links, just asking people what they thought of the meeting. Now 11 people showed up to the next one and one guy said he only went because he saw my post. Anybody else have luck with the low key approach after getting shut down somewhere?
Oh man, my buddy did almost the exact same thing on a neighborhood subreddit after a mod nuked his post about a zoning meeting. He just started asking casual questions instead of dropping links and suddenly people were showing up to meetings who never posted before.
