Called a flat-Earther a conspiracy nut on a science forum, got banned for 'toxic behavior'
Turned out the mod was a flat-Earther too, which I only figured out after he linked me to a YouTube video about NASA faking the moon landing in his ban message, so has anyone else run into mods who enforce rules based on their own beliefs?

Read a story last week about a guy who got banned from a gardening forum for saying the soil pH advice was wrong, and it turned out the mod was a total hack who sold his own line of overpriced lime. Sounds like your mod just wanted to silence anyone who threatened his little belief system, which is pretty pathetic for a science forum. I swear these people get into power positions just so they can control the conversation instead of actually hearing facts.

Totally agree with you, it's infuriating when mods act like that. Honestly, it just screams insecurity when they can't handle a simple fact check without throwing a ban hammer. Ngl, I've seen this pattern way too often in niche forums where a few people run the whole show and they take any criticism as a personal attack. It really kills the whole point of having a science-based community if you're just gonna silence dissenting views. Tbh, that gardening story just proves how easy it is for someone to abuse their power when they have a financial stake in the misinformation.
