Got banned from a recipe group after my post hit 400 comments overnight

I posted a question in a 12,000 member cooking group about whether you should salt pasta water like the ocean, and it blew up to 400 comments in one night. The next morning a mod named Dana removed it and blocked me for 30 days, saying I was 'stirring up drama.' I wasn't trying to start anything, I just wanted to know if my grandma was right, so has anyone else gotten the boot for a post that got way more replies than they expected?
