Got permabanned from a fishing forum in 2019 for a pic of my catch, now I just text my buddies
Back in 2019 I posted a photo of a 22 inch walleye I pulled out of Lake Erie on a fishing forum, and a mod banned me for life saying the fish looked staged. These days I don't post catches anywhere, I just send pics straight to three guys from work in a group text. The ban still bugs me since I never got a real answer on what rule I broke. Anyone else give up on forums and just keep their stuff private now?
This fits a bigger thing I keep seeing where online spaces get ruined by mods on a power trip. Fishing forums, gaming subs, car groups, it's all the same story. One guy with a badge decides he doesn't like you and that's it, no appeal, no real reason. What gets me is these places act like they want people to post, then they chase off the exact folks who actually contribute stuff worth reading. Your walleye pic was probably better content than half the junk that stays up. Can't blame you for going private with the group chat, at least your three buddies aren't gonna ban you for catching a nice fish.
