Paid $80 for a 'rare' deleted meme archive, got a folder of screenshots I already had

The seller promised 400 uncensored memes pulled from 12 countries, but after I opened the zip file last night it was just 90 blurry images with watermarks still on them, so has anyone else gotten burned by these underground meme vault sellers or did I just pick the wrong one?

Read a thread last month on a meme archiving subreddit where people were tracking these vault sellers. One guy posted a spreadsheet of like 15 different sellers and said 13 of them were selling stolen Drop Box links that people had already shared free on Discord. The other 2 were just reselling packs from a defunct website called MemeCabin that used to do monthly drops for 5 bucks. Watermarks still on them is the tell, real collectors scrub that stuff or at least crop it out. You paid for convenience and got hustled. Next time just search the specific meme titles on archive.org, that 80 bucks would have gotten you a nice steak dinner instead.
