A snowflake emoji got me banned from a lecture hall in Ann Arbor

Tbh I used to think free speech on campus was mostly about the big stuff like protests and speakers. Then last month I posted a sarcastic snowflake emoji in the live chat during a guest lecture on climate policy. The moderator cut my comment, and the prof later emailed me saying my 'disruptive tone' violated the event's civility policy. That email was 3 paragraphs long and cited a rule I never saw in the syllabus. Now I actually read every code of conduct before any campus event, and I ask where the chat moderation guidelines are posted. Has anyone else gotten dinged for something that small, like a meme or a single emoji, and felt like it was way over the top?
