Found out my university has a 30 page speech policy buried in the student handbook, no one knows about it
I got curious last month and went digging through the student handbook PDF on the school site. Found a section called "Expressive Activity" on page 47 that takes up 30 pages. Turns out there are 14 designated free speech zones on campus and they all need to be reserved 72 hours ahead of time. I asked 6 friends and none of them knew this existed. There's even a line that says amplified sound is banned in all zones during finals week. I emailed the dean of students to ask why this is hidden and got a reply saying it was "communicated appropriately." Has anyone else found stuff like this buried in their school's policy docs?
