Got shut down for quoting a Supreme Court case in a Poli Sci seminar

Last semester at University of Montana, I cited Citizens United during a debate on campaign finance and the TA told me I was 'promoting corporate personhood' and cut me off. She gave me a warning for 'disruptive speech' after class. Has anyone else been silenced for just referencing legal precedent?

My TA at Montana State last spring told me I was "weaponizing the constitution" for referencing Marbury v. Madison in a discussion about judicial review. She said it was "too advanced for the room." I almost laughed out loud but I was too busy trying not to get kicked out of class. These professors think legal precedent is some kind of secret code only they get to use. Next time I'll just cite Wikipedia since that seems to be the approved source.

Ha, @lily97 that's wild. She probably just felt threatened by someone knowing actual case law instead of just nodding along.
