My poli sci final got shut down over a water bottle

Last Tuesday in a 200-level class at CSU, a kid chugged his Hydro Flask during a debate on campus carry. The professor stopped mid-sentence and said "put that away, we don't need props becoming weapons." Then he made the whole class write a reflection on why the bottle was disruptive. Took 20 minutes of our 75 minute slot. Has anyone else had a rule so dumb it killed the actual discussion?

I mean, yeah, the professor overreacted, but a 20 minute reflection paper is not exactly the end of the world. I've sat through way dumber stuff in college, like a class where the TA made us do a breathing exercise because someone yawned too loud. The debate probably wasn't going to solve anything about campus carry in that 75 minutes anyway, most of those discussions just turn into people repeating talking points. Sounds like a good excuse to check your phone for a while, honestly.
