Our campus paper got pulled for a cartoon about parking tickets

Last Tuesday, the whole print run of our student paper was taken from the stands. The editor said campus police told them a cartoon making fun of their ticket quotas was 'disrespectful to officers'. They didn't even talk to the paper staff first, just removed every copy. It felt weird seeing empty racks all week. Has anyone else had their school paper shut down over something like that?

Did they give any official reason in writing, or was it just a verbal complaint? That's a pretty big move to make without any formal process.

I saw three friends get let go last year with just a quick phone call, no paperwork. It feels like a lot of places, taylorpatel, skip the formal steps now when they want someone out fast. That lack of a paper trail just leaves everyone in a worse spot.
