That campus speech zone policy hit me different after a real argument
Last semester at Ohio State I was tabling for a student group and a guy came up screaming at me about something totally unrelated. The admin told me I had to stay in this tiny 10x10 zone or I'd get written up. Meanwhile he could follow me around the whole quad yelling. It clicked for me that these policies don't protect anyone, they just control who gets to talk back. Has anyone else seen a free speech zone used to shut down one side in a dispute?

Walked right into that situation myself at a different school. Watched a kid get escorted to the tiny free speech zone for holding a sign, but the guy screaming slurs at him could walk anywhere on campus. The rules just pick a side and call it neutral. Feels like they knew exactly what they were doing when they drew those lines.
