The TA who 'clarified' our syllabus made a book optional for 'safety'

Last semester at CSU, a teaching assistant crossed out three required readings and wrote 'optional, sensitive content' next to them, then said we could discuss them in private if we 'really wanted'. Has your school pulled that move with the quiet censorship, or am I the only one whose syllabus now comes with trigger warnings instead of citations?

Wait, did anyone actually ask the TA what "safety" meant in that context... like, were these books dangerous, or were they just uncomfortable? That's such a huge difference. Seems like a real slippery slope when a TA gets to decide what's too risky for the whole class to read.
