Clipper over comb is dead to me, I do freehand now

Used to swear by clipper over comb for every fade in Portland, but after a client with a weird crown pointed out the lines last March, I switched to freehand with a trimmer. Took about a month to get clean but the blend sits way better on natural hair texture. Anyone else ditch the guard and never look back?
