Clipper over comb vs. scissor over comb for fades is not even close

I keep hearing guys say scissor over comb gives them more control on fades but I tried it for 2 months straight last summer and switched back to clipper over comb. I do about 12 fades a week in my shop over by Elm Street and my blend lines come out way cleaner with the clipper. The scissor method left me with chunks I had to keep going back to fix every single time. Has anyone else found clipper over comb just works better for most head shapes?

Tried scissor over comb for a month last year and my fades looked like a toddler got ahold of the clippers. Kept leaving these weird little steps that drove me nuts. Clipper over comb lets me knock out the bulk fast and then fine tune without fighting the hair every two seconds. Maybe my hands just work better with the clipper but I swear the blend comes out smoother and I don't have to chase stray hairs like I'm herding cats.

Yo @patwest, have you ever thought it might be your shears that are the problem? Not trying to throw shade but some of those cheap scissors just won't hold an edge worth a damn. I hated scissor over comb for years til I dropped some real money on a good pair. Now I use both methods depending on the hair type. For thick straight hair clipper over comb is fine but for curly or fine hair scissor over comb gives me way more control and less choppy lines. If you still have that old pair laying around maybe borrow a friend's good shears before you give up on it completely.
