inBack in 2018 I saw Ann Coulter speak at Berkeley and the protest drumline outside was so loud I couldn't hear a single word she said for the first 20 minutes
Man that brings back memories. I had a similar thing happen at a local town hall meeting back in 2019, people were blowing air horns outside every time the council member tried to talk. What worked for me was just moving to the back of the room near the door, the sound was a little muffled there and I could catch about half of what was said. Also if the venue has any side rooms or overflow spaces with speakers, that can help filter out the street noise a bit. Sometimes the organizers will hand out earbuds with the audio feed too, I've seen that work at bigger events. Your mileage may vary but worst case just grab the transcript later if they post one online.

inBinged all of Code Geass in three days last week and my sleep schedule is wrecked
Heard my buddy say he started Fullmetal Alchemist one Friday afternoon and didn't stop until he'd finished it all on Sunday night, missed two family dinners and a dentist appointment.

inUpdate: The hardware store that banned me for 'unauthorized wiring advice'
Ugh that's a solid point actually, and now I'm just picturing myself getting sued by some dude's insurance company while holding a wire nut like "please sir I was just trying to help." lmao. Really makes you wonder if Ace even has any kind of training for their actual employees on stuff like this, or if they just let everyone wing it until someone gets banned or burned. The whole situation is such a mess that it's almost funny, but then you remember houses and fires and suddenly it's not so funny anymore.

inGot weird looks at a Chase branch in Portland for paying my credit card in cash
Cash is still pretty normal at most banks around here, maybe the teller was just new or having a weird day. Kinda rude for the manager to hover like that though.

inThat one Tuesday where nothing went wrong with a single washer
Respectfully, smooth days just mean the chaos is saving up for later.
