I finally had to toss my favorite shears after a bad drop
Honestly, I know a lot of guys say you can get a professional to fix any pair of shears, but I'm not so sure. Last Tuesday, my Matsui 6.5 inch shears slipped off my station and hit the tile floor at my shop in Charlotte. The tip bent at a crazy angle, almost 45 degrees. I took them to a guy who's supposed to be the best sharpener in the state, and he told me the steel was compromised from the impact. He said even if he straightened it, the metal would be weak and could snap. I paid $220 for those shears three years ago, and now they're just scrap. I feel like sometimes the 'fix anything' mindset just sets you up to waste more money on a lost cause. Has anyone else had a tool break in a way that just couldn't be saved, no matter what?

Some things just can't be fixed.

My old truck's transmission died last year. Mechanics said the parts don't even exist anymore. You just have to know when to let something go.
