I used to think my clipper oil was fine until a guy's hair told me otherwise

For the longest time, I just added a few drops of my regular clipper oil when the blades felt hot or sounded rough. I figured it was doing the job. Then last month, I had a regular client with really thick, coarse hair, and about halfway through his fade, my main clippers started pulling and snagging bad. I mean, it was tugging his hair, and he actually flinched. I apologized, oiled them quick, and finished, but it felt awful. Later that night, I took the blades off to clean them properly, and the metal looked almost dry and scored in spots, even though I'd just oiled them. A barber I know online mentioned he soaks his blades in oil for a full 10 minutes after every deep clean, which I never did. I tried it the next day, and the difference in how smooth and quiet they run is crazy. It's not just a quick drip, you have to let it really get in there. Has anyone else found a better way to keep blades from drying out fast, especially on tough hair?

Soak them blades good. That quick drip never cuts it.

Yeah that "quick drip" method is basically my whole life... I'll run the blade under the tap for like two seconds and call it good. Then I spend the next ten minutes hacking away at my face like I'm fighting a small, very hairy animal. It's a whole thing.
