My clipper blade shattered mid-fade on a walk-in after 2 years

I was doing a skin fade on a regular last Tuesday and the blade just snapped off the clipper body mid-pass, any barbers here ever have a blade blow up like that or was it just my luck with cheap backups?

Cheap blades do that when the metal gets stressed from heat or drops. Two years is actually decent for a backup clipper, they aren't built to last like the good ones. That mid-pass snap is scary though, especially on a skin fade where you're pressing right against the scalp. You're lucky the client didn't get cut, that could have been a real problem. Sounds like the blade was wearing unevenly, so it finally gave out at the weakest point. Get a name brand replacement blade and it won't happen again.
