My old shop mentor told me to raise my prices by $5 and I fought him on it for a month
When I was cutting at a shop in Boise two winters ago, the guy who trained me kept saying my $20 cuts were too cheap for the area and I needed to go to $25. I ignored him because I was scared of losing regulars, but I finally tried it in March and only two people out of about 40 even blinked. Curious if anyone else has had a mentor push them on pricing and how far you went before it felt wrong?
I heard a barber on a podcast say the guys who undercharge are usually just scared, not generous. That hit kinda hard cause I did the same thing, sat at $18 for way too long. Went to $24 and lost like one guy who was a pain anyway.
