Wasted $80 on a fancy pellet tube, my stick burner still beats it

I saw all the hype about smoke tubes on here and figured I'd try one for cold smoking cheese. Spent $80 on that stainless one from the big box store in Wichita, and honestly my old stick burner setup did a better job in half the time. The pellets kept going out every 20 minutes unless I babysat it, which defeats the whole point. Has anyone else found these things useless for anything besides a few almonds?
