Pro tip: Don't give up on unfair bans. My local book club finally unbanned me after I explained my side.

I was banned for suggesting a controversial author. After talking it out, they let me back in and now discuss book choices more openly. It's a win for free speech in our small community.

Yeah, that part about hurting the whole vibe really hits home. I used to be all for strict rules too, but seeing how it just splits people up changed my mind.

Ever think some bans are actually good for keeping groups focused? I used to be really picky about what books my old club allowed, like I once pushed to kick a guy out just for liking romance novels. Seeing how that hurt the whole vibe made me realize banning people over tastes just makes the group weaker. Now I see that working it out like you did can actually make clubs stronger, not just louder.

Notice this everywhere from neighborhood apps to parent groups. Someone suggests a new playground time and instead of talking it out, people just want to block the person who disagrees. Saw a local book club fall apart because they banned anyone who suggested modern books, only wanted classics. That need to control every single thing just kills the fun and leaves you with an echo chamber of the same three people.
