Found a cracked dropout hidden under paint on a 2020 frame, check yours

Last month I had a customer bring in a bike that just felt off in the rear end. Nothing obvious, no wobble at the wheel. I pulled the rear wheel and the dropout area looked clean, but the paint had a tiny hairline bubble. Sanded it down and there was a crack running about 2 inches along the dropout. Frame was a 2020 model, so it was out of warranty anyway. Bike was never crashed, just ridden hard on gravel. Took me 3 hours to find it because it was hiding under the clear coat. I've already checked 5 other bikes from the same batch and 2 have the same issue. Has anyone else seen cracks like this on that era of frame, or know what causes them to start under the paint?
