TIL that a stuck seatpost can eat 4 hours of your Saturday, and I was wrong about the easy fix
Had a customer's old steel frame in the shop off Grand Ave with an alloy post fused in solid. I figured a little heat and a twist would do it. Four hours later I had tried penetrating oil, a pipe wrench with a cheater bar, and finally the hacksaw from the inside. I used to think people who cut posts out were just being lazy. Now I get it. The heat bath is what finally broke it loose, not the twisting. What's your go-to when a post won't budge and the frame is already painted?
