I was wrong about slow burn shows after watching The Bear
I used to skip anything that took more than two episodes to get going, thinking it was just boring. But I gave The Bear a shot last month and stuck with it through the whole first season. The way it builds the characters and the kitchen stress over ten episodes actually made the big moments hit way harder. Anyone else have a show that changed their mind about a whole style of TV?

Yeah that "room to breathe" thing is key... I just force myself to watch three full episodes of any slow show now. If it hasn't hooked me by then, it's probably not for me, but at least I gave it a real shot.

Yeah it's like we're all trained for instant payoff now, but some things just need room to breathe. I get the same feeling with a good book or even learning a new skill, where the grind is part of the point. The Bear makes you sit in that kitchen chaos so the small wins feel earned.
