My brother finally got me to watch that show about the space hotel

He kept telling me for a year that 'The Resort' was a perfect weekend binge, but I thought it looked dumb. We were at his place in Denver last month, and he just put the first episode on while we were eating pizza. The way the mystery started right away, with that old cell phone in the jungle, actually hooked me. I ended up watching the whole season in two days. Has anyone else had a show they resisted that turned out to be great?

Same thing happened to me with that show about the bear.

It's funny how a show can seem so boring until someone just makes you watch the first ten minutes... @the_mary, was it the stress of the kitchen that pulled you into that one, or something else about it? I put off watching that space hotel show for ages too, thinking the whole thing looked cheap. What was the moment in the first episode that actually made you stop looking at your phone and pay attention?

But like, how much does it really matter if a show takes a few minutes to get good? I mean, @ruby973, you said you thought the space hotel looked cheap at first. I felt that way about that cooking competition show everyone loved. The first bit was just people yelling about burnt sauce, and I was ready to quit. Then one chef just quietly fixed another contestant's broken plate before the judges came in, no big deal. That tiny moment of kindness in the middle of the chaos got me. Maybe we just need to give things a little more time to show us what they're really about.
