Tried binging The Americans weekly vs all at once. Night and day difference.

I started The Americans a few months back watching weekly like it aired. Got bored around season 3 and dropped it. Then last month I restarted it from scratch and binged 3-4 episodes a night. Holy crap it's way better. The slow burn pacing works so much better when you don't have to wait a whole week between episodes. The tension carries over and you catch so many more clues. The scene with the garage door in season 4 hit way harder on a binge. Anyone else find that some shows are basically designed for binging even if they came out as weekly releases?

That garage door scene in season 4, yeah I totally get what you mean. The whole show is built on these tiny little moments that don't mean much on their own but add up to something huge. Like the way they fold clothes or the way Philip looks at Elizabeth across a room. When you're watching three episodes in a row you remember those details from earlier and they mean so much more.

Season 3 is actually where the show found its groove for me watching week to week, that mall parking lot episode hooked me right in. I think binging it might make you miss the dread of sitting with those cliffhangers for seven days, that anticipation is part of what makes the slow burn work.
