Hot take: belt grinders beat out hand filing for most blade work

I used to be all about hand filing, thought it gave me more control. But after 3 months using a 2x72 belt grinder for rough shaping and bevels, I'm switching for good. The speed difference is night and day, I finished a 10 inch chef's knife in under 2 hours instead of an afternoon. Hand filing still has its place for detail work, but for bulk removal it's just way slower. Anyone else made the jump and regretted it or stuck with files?

Jumped on a belt grinder last year for some bigger kitchen knives and it saved me hours of elbow grease. I still keep a file around for sharpening jigs and tight spots but yeah, bulk removal is a no-brainer now.
