That one Tuesday where everything went right at the forge
Last week I had a day where every single weld just... worked. No slag pits, no cold shuts, nothing like the usual mess I deal with. I made a pair of tongs in under an hour and the steel moved like butter under my hammer. Has anyone else had a day where the metal just cooperates for no reason?

i mean it's a good day at the forge and all but you're making it sound like you solved world hunger lol. slag pits and cold shuts are part of the game, sometimes you just get lucky and everything lines up. just wait til next tuesday when you're fighting a stuck hammer and cursing your anvil again.

Getting the metal too hot and fighting scale buildup was what finally clicked for me after a string of bad forge days. Started using a lighter hammer and watching the color closer instead of just pounding away until it looked right. Slag pits still pop up sometimes but that one change cut them way down and made the clean days come a lot more often.
