My board game shelf used to be a chaotic mess, now I alphabetize everything
For years, I just shoved games back on the shelf wherever they fit, which meant I'd spend 15 minutes digging for 'Terraforming Mars' every game night. About six months ago, after a friend couldn't find 'Wingspan' and we almost didn't play, I spent a whole Sunday sorting them A to Z. It was a pain, but now finding a game takes seconds. Some of my friends think this is way too uptight and kills the fun, organic feel of a collection. I think it's just being respectful of everyone's time. What's your shelf organization style, or do you just embrace the beautiful chaos?

Wait, you almost didn't play Wingspan because of that?!

Oh man, my buddy refused to even try it for a year. He saw the bird art and the egg tokens and just said it looked like a boring nature documentary. Finally got him to sit down, and he spent the whole game groaning about his bad draws. Then his last turn, he played some combo that scored like 20 points. He bought his own copy the next week.
