Old gaming group broke up, hit a random open night and felt ancient

Stopped by a game cafe in Arlington last Tuesday on a whim. Everyone there was talking about legacy games and campaign tracks like they were the only thing that exists. I asked if anyone wanted to play Acquire and got blank stares. It used to be the game that got people arguing for hours back in my group. I know things move on, but is there any love left for the old economic titles, or are those just for the retirement home crowd now?

funny thing, I used to be the guy saying old games were timeless and everyone else was chasing fads. then my buddy dragged me to a modern board game night last month and we played something with a legacy deck where your choices actually changed the board state permanently. I get it now. Acquire is still a great game, but it's like listening to vinyl when everyone else has moved to streaming. nobody's gonna kick you out for pulling out the old stuff, just don't expect the room to crowd around it.
