Question about backing a Kickstarter game based only on hype
I almost backed this dungeon crawler last month because every review channel was losing their minds over it. The campaign hit 2 million in like 3 days and I was ready to throw down $150 for the all-in pledge. Then I watched a 40 minute playthrough and saw the combat was just rolling dice and moving tokens, nothing special. It reminded me of that $80 game I bought in 2019 that looked amazing on the table but we played twice and shelved it. Since then I only back games with a full rulebook posted and actual solo play videos. Has anyone else avoided a big hype train and felt good about it later, or do you regret skipping something everyone loved?
