inOkay, I need to say something about the 'cavemen' thing in documentaries.
Oh man, the "they just grunted" idea is so tired! It really does make the past seem empty. My pet peeve is the "sudden genius" myth, like complex thought just popped up one day. We had art and glue and boats way before what people call "civilization". It was a slow, smart burn, not a light switch flipping on.

inShowerthought: The difference in my shop after I finally got a dust collection system set up
Tell me about it. I ran a single stage bag collector for a decade, coughing my way through every sanding session. Upgrading to a canister filter on that same unit was a revelation, like someone turned the lights on. The air just feels clean now, and I'm not sneezing out sawdust for hours after I close up shop.

inTried watching 'Neon Genesis Evangelion' after hearing it was the best anime ever
Feel the exact same way about that show. Kept waiting for it to get good or make sense, and then the movie just made it worse. All that talk about deep meaning felt like an excuse for a story that just falls apart. Why does something have to be a confusing mess to be seen as smart art?

inMy instructor said to always double-check my bailout bottle myself, even if the tender says it's good
Man, your instructor was dead right. I had a tender hand me a comms unit once, swore up and down it was tested. I get down there and it's just static, the battery was totally dead. Another time my gas mix was off by like two percent, not enough to kill me but enough to make the deco computer freak out. You just can't trust a second pair of eyes with your own air.

inTrying to find info on that factory fire in Guangdong last month was a real eye-opener
You say the smoke plume was huge, but cell phone videos can make things look way worse than they are.
