That vintage board game collection I inherited was a total money pit
My uncle left me his old Avalon Hill games from the 70s, and I thought I'd struck gold. Nope, the boxes were all water damaged and two of them had missing pieces. I spent $40 on replacement parts just to play one game of Titan.

My cousin had a similar thing happen with a bunch of old D&D modules he found at a garage sale. Turns out the box was full of silverfish and the maps were basically confetti.

Four dollars is still four dollars you could have spent on lunch instead of a box of bugs and confetti. Sounds like your cousin got a biology lesson and a craft project all in one, not exactly a steal. Is there really any upside to finding old paper goods in someone else's garage when you could just buy a PDF and skip the infestation?
