That one Tuesday in Odessa where everything tried to kill us

We were doing a hydro test on a 12 inch line out near Odessa, and the morning started with a gasket blowout that soaked three guys before 9 am. Then the torque wrench slipped and cracked a flange bolt, so we had to wait two hours for a replacement from the shop in Midland. By lunch I was ready to pack it in, but the real mess came when the relief valve stuck open and we flooded a whole trench with test water. The foreman just looked at me and said, "Well, at least it held pressure," which was technically true but the dumbest thing I heard all week. We finally got it buttoned up around 7 pm, and I drove home with my ears ringing from the hammering. Anyone else have a job that went sideways before the first coffee break?
