Can we talk about how long it takes to finish a book club pick when nobody agrees on the ending?
Last month our club read a 320 page mystery novel for the May meeting in Portland. Three of us finished it in a week. The other five kept saying they were 'almost done' for two straight weeks. Then at the actual meeting, two people admitted they skipped the last 40 pages because they got bored. We spent 45 minutes arguing about whether the twist was fair or just lazy writing. I get it, life gets busy. But I set aside 20 minutes a night for a month to finish. Has anyone else had a book club where the time gap between readers totally wrecked the discussion? How do you handle the slow readers without sounding like a jerk?

Man, sounds like the real issue is people not caring enough to finish. Life gets busy but two weeks for a book? That's a choice. Maybe the club needs shorter books or a schedule that actually works for everyone.
