The $12 paperback converted me from e-reader loyalist
I've been team Kindle for like 6 years, swore physical books were dead weight. Then my book club picked a translated novel and the ebook version had this terrible formatting, missing footnotes all over. My buddy brought his beat up paperback copy to the meeting and passed it around so we could all read the translator's note together. That one moment changed my whole stance, now I grab the cheap used copies from Powell's Books whenever the ebook price is under $15.
Honestly that tracks with how we treat everything now, like if the digital version makes one little thing harder we suddenly romanticize the analog version, even when the paperback is objectively more annoying to hold. Ngl, that same flip happens with vinyl records and paper maps, people just crave the version that forces them to slow down.
