My leather punch gets more use than my fancy press these days

I started out buying all the expensive gear like everyone suggested, but after a year of repairs I realized the $22 basic punch handles most jobs better for me. The press just sits there for show while I'm doing quick corner work on old rebinds. Anyone else find themselves reaching for the simple tools more than the big ones?

Honestly, I used to be the guy pushing the fancy press on everyone. I thought the more gear, the more professional you look. But hearing you say the $22 punch handles most jobs, that really flipped a switch for me. I've got a press that I've used maybe three times this month, while my basic tools have done all the real work. Tbh, I'm starting to think half this hobby is just avoiding the hassle of setting up big equipment for small jobs.
