Saw a guy at the Oregon book fair using a table saw to trim book edges
I was walking around the Oregon book fair last Saturday and this one dude had a whole mini table saw setup with a fence and everything. He was trimming stacks of pages down to size before binding them. Honestly looked way faster than using a guillotine cutter. Has anyone else tried this method or is it a bad idea for safety?

Is he trying to compete with the lumberjacks for fastest book trimming?

I saw a guy at my local library last week who trimmed off the margins of a hardcover with a box cutter and it took him maybe 45 seconds flat. Made me wonder if he was training for some kind of speed book mutilation competition. My paperback copy of The Martian ended up with three sentences cut in half because I tried to follow along with scissors while watching a tutorial. Honestly at this point I just buy used copies specifically for the ripped up pages so I don't feel bad doing it myself.
