Stumbled into a tiny bindery in Portland and their thread tension trick blew my mind
I was killing time between pressure washing jobs and wandered into this shop on SE Hawthorne, watched the owner sew a 500 page textblock with a plastic binder clip holding the thread spool sideways, and now my own coptic stitch has never looked better, anyone else picked up weird little hacks from random store visits?

Hell yeah, that clip trick is gold. I used to fight with my spool holder every single time, thought tension was just something you suffered through. Then I saw a lady at a craft fair do the same sideways clip thing and I felt like an idiot for not trying it sooner. My stitches went from loose and sloppy to tight and even almost overnight. It's wild how the simplest stuff is the thing you never think of.
