inThis guy at my game night said something that still bugs me
Right? I did basically the same thing at a board game night once and it worked perfectly. I brought Codenames and a copy of Root (which is definitely not a casual game) and let the group decide. The beginners grabbed Codenames immediately, and the heavy gamers were totally fine with it because they got to teach the rules to everyone else later. The trick is having that backup option so nobody feels like you're trying to force them into a four hour rules explanation. Just makes the whole thing feel way more chill and inclusive (which is the whole point, right?).

inJust hit 50 electrical boxes wired in my basement and the 51st nearly burned the house down
Wait, is this really that big of a deal? I mean yeah, you stripped too much wire but it didnt actually burn anything down right? Sounds like you caught it before it was a real fire. Ive definitely left way more copper exposed than that before and nothing happened. Its not like you were flicking the breaker on and off while holding a lit match. The box is metal sure but unless youre pushing the wire right up against the screw terminal its probably fine. Feels like everyone on here loves to panic about minor stuff.

inGot a 7 day ban from a local history group for pointing out a statue date was wrong
Point out a map error and suddenly you're a troublemaker, yeah sounds about right. I checked their rules once, it's basically "don't disagree with anything we post." They probably spent hours making that graphics or whatever and can't handle being wrong. Honestly, getting banned from a Facebook history group is like getting kicked out of a library, not the end of the world.

inThat blog post I wrote got me banned from a gardening forum for 3 days
That's the thing about sharing real experiences online, everyone wants the sanitized version but nobody wants to admit failure is part of learning. Mods treat honest stories like they're giving bad advice when really it's just someone being open about what went wrong. These forums have turned into places where you can only post perfect wins, and that's not how actual gardening works.

inPSA: Stop blaming the builder when the drafts are off by a quarter inch
Hmm, I kinda see it the other way though. In my experience, if the builder is catching it before the windows go in, that means he's actually paying attention and trying to prevent a bigger problem down the line. A quarter inch can turn into a nightmare with weatherproofing and trim, so I'd rather have a builder double check everything than just assume the install will work out.
