That Tuesday I spent 6 hours fixing one broken sewing machine

My old Singer finally gave up last week right before a rush order of 12 journals, so I had no choice but to dig into the tension assembly with a screwdriver and a YouTube video from 2013. Turns out the problem was a tiny spring that had slipped off its post, and after 6 hours of trial and error I got it running smooth again, but my whole afternoon went out the window. Has anyone else had a repair job that ate an entire day, or am I just slow with the fiddly bits?
