Found out yesterday that Venus flytraps only grow in a 75-mile radius in North Carolina

I was reading about carnivorous plants for a terrarium idea and stumbled on this. The wild ones are all basically from around Wilmington, NC, and nowhere else on Earth. Has anyone else been surprised by how specific a plant's native range can be?

Read once that pitcher plants have a similar thing, they only grow in one specific bog in Alabama. Nature is weirdly specific like that.

Is it really that specific though? I've heard that same claim about a bunch of different plants and they usually turn out to have a wider range. Seems like one of those nature facts that gets exaggerated online.
