I found a whole patch of ghost pipes in the woods behind my house
I was walking my dog on Tuesday morning and saw these weird white plants near a fallen log. I took a picture and looked them up, turns out they're ghost pipes, a plant that doesn't need sunlight. I spent the whole afternoon reading about how they get food from fungi. Has anyone else seen these around? I'm in central Ohio.

Cool find, but I've always found them a bit creepy looking. They remind me of those plastic flowers from old craft stores. You ever get that vibe?

Yeah the plastic flower comparison is spot on, it's that weird waxy texture they have. What makes a plant cross over from cool to creepy for you? Is it just the look or something else?

Remember my buddy bought one for his mom. She put it in a dark corner and it freaked her out so bad she gave it away. Guess they can look pretty weird in the wrong light.
