Been skeptical of bulk buying spices from the Indian grocery store for years, but after saving $47 on cumin alone last month I think I may have been wrong all along.

On one hand the prepackaged jars at the supermarket are convenient and I know exactly what I'm getting, but on the other hand the loose spices from Patel Brothers near my house cost a fraction of the price and taste way fresher - has anyone else switched over and regretted it or am I just lucky so far?

That cumin budget definitely puts my spice spending to shame, I spent about that much last year just trying to find a good chili powder blend. My wife says I have a problem but I just tell her at least it's not a gambling addiction. Your mileage may vary but honestly if it makes your food taste better and you can afford it then who cares what anyone thinks.
