Bought a $15 rice cooker at a garage sale and it's already paid for itself

Wait, how long did you have it before it actually paid for itself? My buddy Mark got one of those tiny red rice cookers at a thrift store for like eight bucks and he swore it saved him from eating ramen every night for a whole semester. He'd cook a big batch of rice on Sunday, then just throw different stuff on top all week, said it cut his grocery bill down by half. He still talks about that thing like it was the best money he ever spent, even though it finally died after two years and he had to get a new one. Sometimes the cheap finds are the ones that really stick with you.

Not to be that person but $15 for a rice cooker is actually a steal, not "paid for itself" yet. Those things cost like $20 new at Walmart for a basic one. Unless you're cooking rice every single day for a month and comparing it to takeout or something, you gotta use it a bunch more before it really pays off. My cheap one finally broke after 3 years of almost daily use, that's when I felt like I got my money's worth. Just saying, keep using it and you'll get there.
