Hit $50 a week on groceries for a family of 4 and I'm torn on if it's genius or just sad

I managed to feed us for exactly $50 last week using rice, beans, eggs, and frozen veggies, but my wife says we're basically eating like college students while our neighbor spends $200 on steaks and organic kale, so what's your take does frugal mean boring or am I missing something cool to cook on the cheap?

I get that $50 feels like a win, but your wife has a point about it being a little sad. Rice and beans are fine for a few days, but there's a middle ground between that and $200 steaks. You could pick one or two cheap cuts of meat like chicken thighs or pork shoulder and build meals around those with the frozen veggies. Adds some variety without wrecking your budget. Have you tried stretching ground beef with lentils or adding eggs to rice bowls for more flavor?

Your $50 week is honestly impressive, not sad. My family of 4 did a similar thing for a stretch and those bean and rice bowls with a fried egg on top were some of our favorite meals.
