Just realized my $4 bag of dried beans makes three times as many meals as a $3 can of chili.
I finally did the math after my third grocery trip this month and saw that a single pot of black beans I cooked from scratch gave me lunches for a whole week, but the canned stuff was gone in two days, so what other cheap staples am I completely sleeping on?

Remember when my buddy tried to save money on coffee? He bought a big bag of whole oats instead of instant packets. Turns out a handful of those cooked up with some water makes a ton of cheap breakfast porridge, way more than he expected.

My cousin did something similar with rice once. He bought a huge sack thinking it was a great deal, but then had no idea how to store it all. We found rice in every container in his kitchen for months.
