My 'Savory' Lentil Soup that lasted Three Full Days

I tried that lentil recipe from the old lady at the store last week. It was supposed to be budget friendly and stretch for days. But I messed up and added too much smoked paprika and way too much salt. By day two, the entire pot tasted like a campfire and a salt lick. I had to eat it anyway because I can't waste food on my tight budget. Has anyone else ruined a whole batch of something and just forced themselves to finish it?

Did you try adding a can of diced tomatoes or some lemon juice to cut the salt?

I tried the lemon juice thing you mentioned @thompson.robin and it helped a little but not enough for my taste. What actually worked best for me was adding a whole diced potato and letting it simmer for about 20 minutes. The potato soaks up a ton of salt and you can just fish it out before serving. I also added a splash of vinegar at the end which brightened everything up. Between those two tricks I didn't need to toss the whole pot of soup. Maybe give that a shot next time you accidentally oversalt.
